About Mexico City
Mexico is a vibrant country with a rich history, featuring the world’s largest pyramid by volume, 68 recognized languages, an ancient origin for chocolate, a sinking capital city, and millions of migrating monarch butterflies. Mexico City is the Oldest City in the Americas and has a rich history that spans three main eras: it was founded as the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan in 1325, rebuilt as the Spanish colonial center after 1521, and transformed into the modern capital of an independent Mexico.
